
Rudolph George Ortiz, age 75, passed away suddenly May 29, 2025 at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born August 6, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ralph and Rose Espinosa Ortiz. Rudy married the love of his life and soulmate on May 10, 1975 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they had two daughters, Yvette Henderson and Christa McLean.
Rudy was a longtime resident of Carbon County where he worked for Kaiser Steel Coal Mine and drove truck in the area until the time of his retirement. Rudy honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam. He loved to sing and be around his family and friends. Rudy warmed the hearts of many and he be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rudy is survived by his daughters, Yvette Henderson and Christa McLean, both of Salt Lake City; and his grandchildren, Christian McLean, Jostyn McLean, Karlie Henderson, Mehki Henderson, and Octavian Ortiz; three brothers and four sisters, Ralph Ortiz, San Pedro, CA, Alice Archebeque, Helen Marquez, both of Salt Lake City, Ruth Middaugh, Las Vegas, NV, Edward Gilbert Ortiz, Palm Springs, CA, Arthur (Judy) Ortiz, Barbara “Bobbie” Brown, both of Las Vegas, NV; along with many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, wife, Ruth Ann Ortiz; siblings, Lorraine Rodriguez, Florence Gable, Ernest Ortiz and an infant brother.
Funeral Mass, Monday, June 9, 2025, 10:00 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Price, UT. Vigil service Sunday, June 8, 2025, 7:00 p.m., at Notre Dame. Family will receive friends at the church Sunday evening and Monday morning one hour prior to services. Committal service to follow in the Price City Cemetery.
