
Skylee Guymon finished the season as a State Champion in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, and the Lady Spartans captured a state title in the 4×400 relay to conclude a successful 2025 campaign. The Lady Spartans finished third overall at the State Championships.
The Lady Spartans also broke state records, with Skylee Guymon becoming the 3A state record holder in the 300-meter hurdles, and Addy Guymon holding the state record in the 3200-meter.
Below is a recap of the 2025 Emery track and field season.
March 8- @ Grand
The Carbon and Emery track squads started the season in Moab at the Grand Invitational. Ten schools from around the state landed at Grand County High School. After two days of competition, the Lady Dinos finished in fourth place, while the boys’ team claimed third. For the Spartans, the girls earned a third-place finish, while the boys landed in tenth.
Cedar Valley landed first on the boys’ side, with Uintah claiming second. Carbon, North Sevier, and San Juan rounded out the top five. The Spartans came in tenth place.
For the Spartans, Dillan Larsen finished in seventh in the 800 meters.
Cedar Valley won the girls’ division, followed by Uintah in second. Emery, Carbon, and North Sevier completed the top five.
Distances were where the Lady Spartans made a difference. Gentry Christiansen earned a first-place finish in the 800 with 2:19.71. Addy Guymon won the 1600 at 5:01.84, and Addie Hurst finished in fifth. Molly Christiansen took sixth in the 400, and Hannah Farley took eighth in the 3200. Skylee Guymon had a tremendous day in the hurdles, taking first in the 100 meters with her time of 15.26 and another top finish in the 300 meters, turning in a time of 45.18. Carlie Hurst landed in fifth. The Lady Spartan 4×400 relay claimed first place with a time of 4:12.11.
In field events, Emery’s Alexis Morgan finished fifth in the discus and eighth in the shot put. Hallie Frandsen took seventh in the high jump for Emery.

March 21- Pineview Invitational
Lady Spartan Addy Guymon had herself a day at the Pine View Invitational in St. George over the weekend. Guymon claimed the 3A state record in the 3200 and school records in the 800 and 1600 meters. The Emery girls’ team earned a second-place finish out of 44 teams.
Host school Pine View took the top spot with 77 points; Emery was close behind with 62. Snow Canyon (58), Mountain Ridge (45), and Park City (36) rounded out the top five.
Guymon earned first place in the 3200 meters, setting a 3A State Record with her time of 10:26.15. This is nine seconds faster than Ogden’s Sarah Feeny, who posted her time of 10:35.68 in 2013. Gentry Christiansen finished the race in third.
Guymon added two school records to her day. In the 800 meters, she earned a third-place finish with a time of 2:13.98, just off of the 3A State Record of 2:11.92. Christiansen finished right behind her in fourth. Guymon finished second in the 1600, setting another school record by turning in a time of 4:50.86, falling just short of the State Record of 4:50.04. Christiansen finished third in the race.
Skylee Guymon earned three top finishes for the Lady Spartans. Taking second place in the 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 15.18, seconds off the pace set by Tia Brown of Snow Canyon, and her first-place time of 14.59. Guymon would also finish in third place in the 300-meter hurdles and seventh in the 400 meters.

March 29- Alpha Invitational
On Saturday, the Lady Spartan track squad was at Timpanogos High School for the Alpha Invitational. Skylee Guymon now owns the Emery High record in the 100-meter hurdles, a mark that had stood for 44 years. Thirty-seven teams participated in the meet, and the Emery girls finished ninth overall. The boy’s team didn’t attend the weekend.
American Fork grabbed the top spot with 57 points. Eagle, a high school in Idaho, finished in second with 52. Host Timpanogos took third with 43. Uintah (40) and Cyprus (36) rounded out the top five. Emery earned ninth with 30 points.
Skylee Guymon finished the 100-meter hurdles in 14.82 seconds, breaking the Emery High School record for 44 years. Guymon finished well ahead of Gabby Morfin of Cyprus, and her time of 15.52
Addy Guymon won the 1600 meters with her time of 5:02.05, eight full seconds ahead of Olympus’s Adria Favero. Gentry Christiansen finished the race in eighth. Addy Guymon would also finish third in the 400, and Christiansen finished eighth.

April 5- Nyle Norris Invitational @ Richfield
Last Thursday, the Emery track and field squads traveled to Richfield for the annual Nyle Norris Invite. The Lady Spartans finished sixth, while the boys placed ninth.
Host Richfield earned the top spot in the boys’ division with 141 points, South Sevier was second, scoring 81, San Juan, Delta, and Juab rounded out the top five, and Emery finished ninth with 5 points.
Devon Byars was the only individual to place in the top 10 with a ninth-place finish in the discus.
The team of Hunter Leffler, Dillon Larsen, Daxton Larsen, and Tage Jensen finished in fourth in the sprint medley relay.
The Richfield Wildcats took first on the girls’ side, with 168 points, and South Sevier finished in second with 95. North Sevier, Grand, and San Juan comprised the remaining top five. Emery landed in sixth with 37.5 points.
Skylee Guymon took a top spot, finishing the 100-meter hurdles in 15.16 and taking second in the 300-meter hurdles. Carlie Hurst finished in third in the 300. Molly Christiansen claimed three top-five finishes on the day: a third-place finish in the 400, a fifth-place finish in the 200, and an eighth-place finish in the 100. Hannah Farley turned in a tenth-place finish in the 1600.
Hallie Frandsen finished third in the high jump.

April 11- Juab Invitational
The Emery track and field squads participated in the Juab Five Team Invitational, which brought in four other teams from around the state. The Lady Spartans finished fourth, and the boys took fifth.
Carbon earned the top spot on the boys’ side with 175 points; the Richfield Wildcats took second with 142. Host Juab (136), Box Elder (122), and Emery (20) made up the rest of the field.
Dillon Larsen took third place for the Spartans in the 800, and Devon Byars earned fifth place in the discus.
The Spartans competed in two relays with the team of Trae Pope, Hunter Leffler, Larsen, and Jacob Erickson taking fourth in the 4×400, and in the 4×100, Jacob Morris, Brekker Bunnell, Tage Jensen, and Leffler took fifth.
On the girls’ side of the track, Richfield took first with 197 points, and Carbon took second with 161.50. Box Elder (94.5), Emery (78), and Juab (44) round out the field.
Kabree Gordon ran her way to a first-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles, turning in a time of 48.23. Gordon took third in the 100-meter hurdles and fifth in the 200. Molly Christiansen finished fifth in the 100.
The Lady Spartans took a couple of top finishes in distances, with Gentry Christiansen turning in her time of 1:00. 60 in the 400, Gentry Christiansen took fifth. In the 1600, Gentry Christiansen finished first with a time of 5:08.03.
Gordon, Molly Christiansen, Megan Stilson, and Carlie Hurst took third in the 4×100, the lone relay they competed in.
In field events, Stilson finished second in the high jump, with Hallie Frandsen taking fourth. Dazi Thatcher finished fourth in the shot put.

April 16- Darrell Gardner Invitational
The Emery Spartan track and field teams welcomed schools from the area to Castle Dale for the Darrell Gardner Invitational. The Lady Spartans finished in third place out of nine schools, and the boys earned a seventh-place finish out of 12 schools that participated.
North Summit finished first on the girls’ side with 153.0; Carbon landed in second with 117.5. Emery (102), Monticello (67.5), and North Sanpete (49.0) rounded out the top five.
Skylee Guymon had another great outing, gathering up three first-place finishes, starting with the 100-meter hurdles and her time of 14.74. She went on to take first in the 200 as well with a time of 26.37, a race in which Molly Christiansen finished fourth, and then in the 400 she grabbed the top spot with the time of 1:00.43, with Christiansen taking fifth. In the 4×400, Guymon, Christiansen, Carlie Hurst, and Kabree Gordon finished in third. Gordon also finished third in the 300-meter hurdles.
Alivia Daley finished in fifth place in the 1600. Dazi Thatcher threw for a first-place finish in the shot put, and Aleeyah Cowley took third, and in the high jump, Megan Stilson took first.
The Carbon boys earned first place in their division with 135 points, and North Summit took second with 110. North Sanpete (168), Bryce Valley (49.5), and Monticello (42.5) made up the top five. Eemry landed in seventh with 18.00 points.
Trek Petersen finished third in the high jump, and Jacob Erickson took fourth in the 3200. The Spartan relay team in the 4×100 finished the day in fourth.
April 18- Eastern Utah Championships @ Carbon
The Emery Spartans and 14 other schools participated in the Eastern Utah Championships on Friday, which Carbon High hosted. The Lady Spartans finished the one-day event in seventh place, while the boys placed ninth.
Union claimed the top spot in the boys’ division, scoring 171 points, and Carbon was in second with 128. Uintah (96.5), San Juan (60.5), and Milford (27) rounded out the top five. Emery finished the day in ninth with 17 points.
The Emery boys participated in just one relay. The 4×100 team of Jacob Morris, Brekker Bunnell, Tage Jensen, and Hunter Leffler finished fifth.
Denvon Byars finished third in the discus at 127 feet, 4.75 inches, and Trek Petersen with his jump of five feet seven inches.
Union also earned first place for the girls, scoring 172 points, with Carbon finishing in second at 108.5. Uintah (72), Monticello (48), and Grand (47.5) made up the top five. The Lady Spartans took seventh with 41 points.
The team of Gentry Christiansen, Skylee Guymon, Kabree Gordon, and Addy Guymon earned a first-place finish with 4:10.02 in the sprint medley relay. Gordon also finished third in the 300-meter hurdles and fourth in the 200. Addie Hirst took fifth in the 1600.
In field events, Dazi Thatcher finished third in the shot put with her throw of 30 feet, 8.5 inches. Hallie Frandsen took fourth in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches.

April 26- Tiger Trials and Delta Signature Real Estate Invitational
Over the weekend, the Spartan track and field team spent time in Orem and Delta. Hannah Farley went to Delta for the Signature Real Estate Invite, and the team went to the Tiger Trials. At the Trials, the Lady Spartans finished 13 out of 36 schools.
American Fork won the girls’ division with 127 points, followed by Park City with 118. Timpview (78), Orem (74), and Uintah (72) rounded out the top five. Emery finished 13th with 54 points.
Gentry Christiansen earned a first-place finish in the 1600 with her time of 4:56.45. Skylee Guymon took the top spot in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 43.88. Addyson Guymon finished in third in the 3200.
At the Delta Signature Real Estate Invitational, Hannah Farley competed in the 800 meters, finishing 15th, and the 1600 meters, taking 10th.
On the boys’ side, Boise took the top spot at the Tiger Trials with 218 points, and American Fork took second with 206. Lone Peak (88), Timpview (84), and Herriman (69) rounded out the top five. Emery did not place.
Devon Byars finished 13th in the discus.

May 2- BYU Invitational
The Emery Spartan track squad had its last tune-up before the Region 12 Championships. On Friday, they took part in the Brigham Young Invitational. The Lady Spartans had powerful performances by Addy Guymon, Skylee Guymon, and Gentry Christiansen. Emery took second place among 3A squads and tied for seventh overall out of over 50 teams that participated.
This was Emery’s last regular-season meet. On Wednesday, the postseason will start with the two-day Region 12 Championships hosted by Carbon High School.
Snow Canyon finished the meet in first with 69 points; Pine View was in second with 59. Union (39), Park City (32), Lone Peak (32), and Mountain Ridge (30) rounded out the top five. Emery, Corner Canyon, and Timpview tied for seventh with 29 points.
Addy Guymon earned a second-place finish in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:32.75, just behind Lone Peak’s Maya Bybee’s time of 10:28.87. Gentry Christiansen finished in eighth. Addy Guymon finished in third in the 1600 meters, with Christiansen taking tenth.
Skylee Guymon was fantastic on the hurdles, taking second in the 100-meter hurdles with her time of 14.57 behind Tia Brown of Snow Canyon and her time of 13.89. Skylee Guymon finished third in the 300-meter hurdles as well.

May 7- Region 12 Championships @ Carbon
The Spartans traveled to Carbon High to compete in the Region 12 Championships, the final meet of the season before the State finals next week. The Lady Spartans finished third overall, and the boys placed eighth.
The Richfield Wildcats won first place at the meet with 129.5 points, and the Lady Dinos took second with 130.83. Emery (89.66), Canyon View (66.50), and Manti (53.0) rounded out the top five. North Sanpete, Juab, and Delta also competed.
The Lady Spartans used the strength of their relay teams and hurdlers to gain serious points. Skylee Guymon claimed a pair of region titles in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles, finishing the 100 in a time of 14.36. Teammate Carlie Hurst finished in second with a 16.05. In the 300, Guymon would turn in a first-place time of 42.93, and Hurst finished eighth.
In the 4×400, Molly Christiansen, Addy Guymon, Skylee Guymon, and Gentry Christiansen ran to a first-place finish with 3:56.92.
Gentry Christiansen earned a region title in the 3200 meters with a time of 11.08.64. Addie Hurst finished in second place in the 1600 meters. In the 800 meters, Addyson Guymon finished in second place at 5:30.00, just off the pace set by Carbon’s Roz Stowe. Hurst would finish fifth. The Lady Spartans’ Molly Christiansen earned a fourth-place finish in the 400 and a seventh-place finish in the 200.
In field events, Megan Stilson and Hallie Frandsen tied for second place in the high jump at 4-9.0. Dazi Thatcher finished eighth in the shot put at 29-0.0, and ninth in the discus with a distance of 85-0.5.
In the boys’ division, Juab claimed the top finish with 129.5 points, Richfield took second with 119.0, and Carbon finished with 99.5 points. Delta (96) and Canyon View (87) comprised the rest of the top five. Manti, North Sanpete. Emery finished in eighth.
Devon Byars earned a fifth-place finish in the discus at 135-9.25. He would go on to take 15th in the shot put.
Jacob Morris finished 20th in the long jump.
Dillon Larsen finished tenth in the 800 meters, and Jacob Erickson took 23rd. Larsen finished ninth in the 1600 meters, with Erickson taking 22nd.
In the 4×100 relay, Morris, Rogun Sitterud, Hunter Leffler, Tage Jensen, and Brekker Bunnell ran to a seventh-place finish.

May 15- UHSAA State Championships @ BYU
Skylee Guymon is the 3A State Champion in the 100 and 300-meter hurdles, and Emery High is home to the top girls’ 4×400 team in the state after the State Track and Field Championships at Brigham Young University, which took place over the weekend in Provo. As a team, the Lady Spartans finished third overall. Devon Byars, the lone member of the boys’ team, finished fourth overall in the discus.
Union earned the top spot in 3A in the girls’ division, scoring 127 points, and Richfield claimed second with 102. Emery landed in third with 89, Carbon(54), and Morgan 41.5 rounded out the top five.
Skylee Guymon capped off a record-breaking sophomore campaign with a State Championship in the 100-meter hurdles with a blistering 14.59, shaving time off her school record of 14.82 from earlier this season. Kabree Gordon finished the race in eighth. In the 300-meter, Guymon would once again break a record, the state mark of 42.93 she had set just one week ago, turning in her time of 42.69, with Gordon finishing in fifth. Skylee Guymon was also a part of the State Champion 4×400 team consisting of Molly Christiansen, Gentry Christiansen, Addy Guymon, and Addie Hurst, who turned in a time of 4:01.48, a full three seconds ahead of Carbon, who finished second.
Skylee Guymon competed in the 200, finishing third at 25.92. Moving into distances, in the 800, Addy Guymon finished in second place with a time of 2:12.72, just off the pace set by Carbon’s Rozlyn Stowe’s 2:12.17. Gentry Christiansen claimed fourth place, and Addie Hurst took 17th. Gentry Christiansen finished ten seconds behind Union’s River White to take second in the 1600-meter with a time of 5:06.72. Hurst was just behind in seventh. In the 3200, White finished in the top spot again, with Emery’s Addy Guymon coming in second at 10:35.51. Gentry Christiansen would finish fourth, and Hurst would take eighth.
Emery took part in two other relays, finishing in the top ten in both. In the sprint medley relay, Carlie Hurst, Megan Stilson, and Addie Hurst ran to a fifth-place finish, and in the 4×100, Gordon, Stilson, Carlie Hurst, and Molly Christiansen took ninth.
The Lady Spartans also placed well in field events, with Gordon taking fifth in the long jump with 16-2.5. In the high jump, Stilson tied for fifth with two others at a height of 4-11.0; teammate Hallie Frandsen landed in a three-way tie for 10th.
Morgan took first in the boys’ division with 98.5 points, and Union finished second with 97.0 points. Juab (92.5), Ogden (56.0), and Richfield (54.0) made up the rest of the top five. Emery finished in 14th.
Devon Byars was the only member of the boys’ team who competed, finishing fourth in the discus.
