Another second Saturday means another rendition of Helper Saturday Vibes. Celebrating Pride, the biweekly festival will kick off on Saturday, June 14, from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Helper’s historic Main Street. Sydney Ho from the Vibes team joined the KOAL newsroom to preview the event’s offerings for attendees.
“We’re pretty excited. I think we’re one of the only Pride in the area, if not the only Pride,” said Ho of the theme. “We’re happy to be able to do it in our community.”
As is tradition, Vibes will feature two bands performing live music in the park. DERM – who recently won the Carbon County Battle of the Bands – will kick things off with an original grunge sound at 5 p.m. “So unlike some of the bands that we’ve had for the last few weeks, DERM is going to be doing a lot more of their original music, which will be very fun,” explained Ho.
Following Derm, Ginger and the Gents looks to bring a smooth blues feel to Helper Vibes. “Ginger and the Gents is going to be fun. They’re very on our pride theme and we are excited to have them and see what they bring.”
Along with the music comes a wide variety of vendors, offering everything from jewelry to a delicious meal. “My personal favorite last time who is coming back this week as well was Wicked Kitchen. They do specialty pancakes, and it’s like 12 little pancakes with various toppings,” shared Ho.” I did the cookies and cream one, and it was so good.”
Bar Manager Shayla Olson has created another new specialty margarita for adults in attendance to enjoy. Ho previewed the drink: “This week is a smashed peach margarita. It’s got hot honey in it, tequila, a habanero honey rim, and a peach slice. It’s going to be good.”
“Helper Vibes is a great place if you’re trying to have a good time in a safe environment. We are open to everybody and we really just love to create an amazing party for our community. So if you’d like to come party with us, please do,” said Ho, closing our conversation. “I can’t wait to see you this Saturday.”
Helper Saturday Vibes will run from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Helper’s Historic Main Street. You can visit Helper Vibes’ Facebook page or website for more information.
