At the June luncheon for the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce, held on the campus of Utah State University Eastern on Thursday, June 19, the chamber presented its monthly community and business spotlight. This month’s honorees consisted of Clean Cut Roofing and Siding and Carbon Events and Recreation.

Starting with Clean Cut Roofing and Siding, Vern Akauola addressed those in attendance. “We’ve been servicing this area for about 22 years now,” said Akauola. We’re located out of Mount Pleasant, Utah, but I’d say about 70% of our work is over here. We cover all the way over to Emery, we’ve covered Richfield, and all the way around Delta, so we have a pretty big area that we cover.”

Ending his time at the podium, Akauola stated, “We’re glad to be partnered with the Chamber of Commerce over here.”

Next to the mic was Kourtney Cox, representing CERCUT. “Barbie (Haeck) asked me to come up and talk a little bit about what we’ve got going on this summer at the Recreation Complex,” opened Cox. “We have the friends of the Children’s Justice Center Banquet that will take place on Saturday. We will have dinner. They will have prizes. They will have a live auction as well as a free concert.”

Continuing on the concert theme, Cox spoke on the collaboration between CERCUT and Price City Culture Connections for their Fourth of July festivities,” Last year, we tried something a little bit different, and we partnered with Price City Culture Connection to do a concert before the fireworks show. We will be doing that again, and we have two great bands coming in.”

Other events upcoming for the recreation complex include:

  • The Scofield Pleasant Valley Days 5K walk/run on July 5.
  • Desert Ducks ‘Bingo for Boomsticks’ on July 18.
  • The Price City International Days 5K on July 24.
  • The Fierce Fighting Championship Challenger Series on July 26.

“Check out our Facebook page for more summer events,” said Cox in closing,” You’re welcome to call us at 435-636-3702 with any questions. You can also get more information on carbonrec.com.”
