Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, Mabel Maxine Sealey Jones, age 99, passed away June 19, 2025 at the Heirloom Inn in Price.

Mabel was born February 16, 1926 in Colome, South Dakota to Paul Franklin and Nora Rud Sealey.

At the age of eight, her family moved to Berwyn, Nebraska. Her family eventually arrived in Carbon County in 1940, where she would later graduate from Carbon High School in 1944.  Shortly after graduation, she married Lamar H. Jones on March 29, 1945 in Fort Pierce, Florida while he was serving in the Navy. During Lamar’s service in the South Pacific, Mabel returned to Price and began working at Mountain Bell where she was a supervisor for over eight years.  In her later years, she managed the charting for the family business, Western Auto.

Mabel was a longtime member of the Price United Methodist Church where she was the Director of the Junior Choir.  She was also the Past Honored Queen of Job’s Daughters Bethel #3 of Price, Past President of the Social Order of The Beauceant #86, Past Matron of The Order of The Eastern Star, Naomi Chapter #13 of Price for seventy years, member of the Lybia Temple-Daughters of the Nile Chapter #32 for over sixty years, Past President of the Carbon Nile Club, Past President of Soroptimist International of Price, and the Past President of P.E.O. Chapter B of Price where she received her 50-year pin.

Mabel dedicated her life to family and community. She loved helping others and traveling.  Mabel and Lamar traveled all over the world; however, her favorite place was spending the winters with family at “Rocky Mountain” in Puerto Penasco, Mexico for over 25 years.  She enjoyed handiwork and making quilts for all her family members.  Mabel leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished for generations to come.

She is survived by her four children, Linda (Richard) Thayn, Kent (Dawn) Jones, Paula Larsen and Terry (Kristine) Jones, all of Price; brother, Marvin (Florence) Sealey, Salt Lake City; sister, Darlene Evans, Albuquerque, NM; 10 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and her loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Bill Larsen; granddaughter, Tiffany Thayn; sister, Ellen (Bob) Radakovich and a brother-in-law, Lowell Evans.

Funeral service, Thursday, June 26, 2025, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price.  Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and Thursday morning one hour prior to service.  Interment, Price City Cemetery, Price.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Mabel online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
