The 2025 boys’ soccer season All-State list was released on Saturday, and four members of the Dinos squad earned honors. Seniors Luke Brady, Sam Dart, Cannon Mortensen, and sophomore Case Griffeth added their names to a list that was voted on from a compiled list by coaches in the classification.
The Dinos finished the season with a 12-4 overall record, earning second place in Region 12 with an 11-3 mark and holding the No. 3 spot in the RPI. Entering post-season play with a first-round bye, they faced the North Sanpete Hawks. This was the third time the two teams faced each other, and it was just like the first two meetings: a win for Carbon, moving them into the quarterfinal round against Morgan. The contest with Morgan was a dog fight ending in a 1-1 tie; the Trojans would defeat the Dinos in a 4-1 shootout.
Luke Brady was a two-sport star for Carbon this season. Brady was given a first-team nod for his contributions on the pitch, scoring 18 goals and collecting seven assists. He also earned Academic All-State achievement in both football and soccer this season. Brady’s four goals at Emery on March 28 propelled the Dinos to a 7-0 win.
Sam Dart earned a second straight first-team honor this year for his work on the defensive side of the ball. Dart has the intangibles that don’t show up in a stat line, as a defensive specialist who helped the Dinos outscore their opponents 58-7.
Goalkeeper Cannon Mortensen collected second-team honors for his work between the pipes. This season, he set a Carbon High School record with 10 shutouts. Mortensen received an Honorable Mention last season in soccer and also collected an Honorable Mention this year for his work on the basketball court for the Dinos. His control of the net allowed just seven goals.
Case Griffeth was the only underclassman to earn All-State recognition for Carbon and an Honorable Mention. The sophomore midfielder scored two goals and collected four assists in the 2025 season.
A pair of players from the State Champion Ogden Tigers earned MVP honors, with Luis Velasco taking the Player of the Year award and Xavier Peregrina taking the MVP of the playoffs for the 3A class.
Congratulations to those who earned All-State Honors for their work in the 2025 season
