The action never stops for the team at Carbon Events and Recreation. Weeks removed from the success of the 2025 Carbon County Fair, CERCUT is already hard at work preparing for their Fourth of July firework spectacular.
Kourtney Cox and Alex Peczuh from the CERCUT crew joined the KOAL Newsroom to preview this and other upcoming events for the recreation complex.
“Last year, we tried something new and we partnered with Price City Culture Connection to host a series of concerts during the event. And we are going to do that again this year,” said Cox of the Fourth of July event. “We have two great bands that are coming down, the Groovonicks and the Brennan West Band. They’re going to start at 7 p.m. These concerts are totally free. We’ll pause briefly to watch the fireworks show, and then we’ll get back to the music. It was so fun last year. After the fireworks were over, people were gathered on the pad in front of Thelma’s Park Stage, dancing and having a great time. I can’t wait to see it again this year.”
Peczuh jumped in to preview upcoming youth sports camps also running through CERCUT. “In July, we have our volleyball and basketball camps. Those are from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. And then something fun that we’re adding in this year to our volleyball and basketball camps is we’re adding in the all-ability camps, and they will be happening from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. every day.”
As the summer months continue, various city celebrations partner with Carbon Events and Recreation to host their annual 5K races. Coming up quickly are the Scofield Days 5K on July 5 and the Greek Festival 5K on July 10. “They’re super fun. I always giggle that people want to come out and just run with us and have a good time. But I truly enjoy it every year,” said Peczuh.
On July 18 at the Carbon County Events Center, The Desert Ducks Unlimited Organization will host their ‘Bingo for Boomsticks’ event. “I think it’s because they can’t say bingo for firearms. I think they have to advertise it a little bit differently,” said Cox. “They’re going to be hosting the Patriots Bingo for Boomsticks event at the event center on July 18. Doors are opening at 6 p.m. Entry fee is $25, which gets you a pizza dinner, door prize entry, a Ducks Unlimited annual membership, and a Ducks Unlimited hat. They are going to be doing 11 rounds of bingo. And every round wins a Boomstick.”
Rounding out the month of July will be the return of the Fierce Fighting Championship to the Events Center on July 26. “My understanding is they’ve got some great fighters on the card coming up, and it’s always a really enjoyable time. Please touch base with Fierce if you’re interested in tickets or would like more information. And then as we get more, we’ll make sure that we’ve got it out on our Facebook page also.”
In closing, Cox shared,” We always have something going on over at CERCUT. Whether it’s on our property or at North Springs, there are always events and activities. So if you’re interested and you’re looking for something fun to do, give us a call.”
