Robert Edward Shanda, age 81, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025 after a bout with cancer. He was born June 12, 1944 in French Camp, California. His early years were spent in Stockton, California with Robert J Shanda and Jewel Moraign Shanda.

At age 18, he enlisted in the US Navy. He served his country honorably aboard the USS Constellation supercarrier during the Vietnam War.

Following the military he married his high school sweetheart, Sharon. Together they had two children, Christopher and Jennifer. They later divorced.

After a short courtship, he married Patricia (Pat) Marvidakis on April 1, 1991 in Elko, Nevada. They loved going fishing on their various boats, especially the pontoon. He liked catching the fish, but Pat had to clean them. They had fun adventures together 4-wheeling and riding their side by side.

For 50+ years Bob was a truck driver and he loved it. He drove long and short hauls. He hauled everything from chemicals to frozen foods, hauling the US mail towards the end of his career.

They lived in Taylorsville, Utah for 34 years. After retiring, they decided to move to Price, Utah. They bought a house and Bob enjoyed working on it, landscaping, planting, and gardening. He was especially entertained by their three little chihuahuas.

When Pat became paralyzed in 2023, Bob’s love never wavered, coming to visit her every day. He brought her treats and sodas and did her laundry. His love and partnership were incredible. He will always be missed by the Parkdale staff for his jokes and kindness.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pat; daughter, Jennifer (John) Marrington; stepson, Stanley P. Marvidakis; grandchildren, Kenzie Marrington, Stanley Jaxson Marvidakis, Scott Shanda, Eric Shanda and Chris Shanda; sisters, Joyce (Nick) Mortelia, Patty (Jeff) Carter, Jeanne (Bill) Vincent and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J and Jewel Shanda; his in-laws, Eugene and Lois Skillicorn; son, Christopher Shanda; and brother, Kenneth Mitchell.

The family would like to thank Bobby Etzel and the staff at Mitchell Funeral Home, Dr. Glenn Etzel, Dr. Shane Gagon, Pinnacle Nursing and Rehab, Parkdale Health and Rehab, hospice caregiver Angela August, and the Price LDS 3rd Ward. Tremendous appreciation also goes to Rick Cross, Leslie Keele, and Teri Viau for all their love, care, and support. And a special thanks to Amanda Westenskow for her loving care and adoption of Maggie May, Savannah, and Gabriel, the three fur babies that Bob and Pat loved so very much.
