
Betty Mae Blackburn Rich, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, surrounded by family, love, and the comfort of her home.
Born on March 26, 1933, in Clawson, Utah, Betty was the daughter of Frank Blackburn and Annie Louise Staker. She was known throughout her life for her strength, determination, and deep love for her family.
Betty married Stanley Martin Rich on June 25, 1950, and together they raised four children. Though the couple later divorced, Betty remained devoted to her family, working tirelessly, often holding down three jobs, to maintain a home and provide for her children. Her resilience and work ethic were a testament to her character.
She retired from the Jordan School District in 1993, after many years of dedicated service. In her later years, Betty found joy in traveling across the United States and Canada with close friends, creating memories that brought her great happiness.
She is survived by her sister, Helen Housekeeper (age 101); and her children, Scott Rich (Dawnella), Helen Christensen (Gary), Peggy Beuchert (Wayne), and Barbara Robison. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward her legacy of love and perseverance.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Annie Blackburn; her brother, Elbert Blackburn; her sister, Evelyn Arnold; her infant son, Allen Lee Rich; and her grandson, Kyle Keith Robison.
The family extends special thanks to Helen and Peggy for their unwavering care during Betty’s final years, honoring her wish to remain at home. Deep gratitude is also extended to the hospice workers, Emily (Red), Diana, and Jody who lovingly supported her and the family.
Betty’s life was one of quiet strength and deep devotion. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Betty’s Life will take place on Friday, July 18, 2025, 12:00 (noon), Miller’s Landing (Mitchell Funeral Home’s – Huntington Location) 123 North Main Street in Huntington. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 (noon) prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Ferron City Cemetery.
