vibes

A fourth Saturday in the Castle Country can only mean one thing: another exciting rendition of Helper Saturday Vibes. Spotlighting International Days and hosting another river float, the event looks to unite the community through fun times and good vibes on Saturday, July 26.

To discuss the event, Sydney Ho joined the KOAL newsroom to give a closer look at the Vibes event.

First discussing the splash day portion of the event – which Ho described as “a good way to cool off in the middle of whatever hot summer activity you got going on this weekend” – Ho shared details of the river float that precedes the main event. “We do river floats for both Vibes in July, and it’s really fun. We had a lot more people than we had last year, and the cutest little lady was floating with her dog, and it was all very safe, which is also important.”

She continued,” We’re meeting at the Swinging Bridge in Helper at 4:30 p.m. Our lovely sponsor, Castigate RV, will be there selling some awesome tubes at a pretty good price. They’re also willing to inflate those tubes or your own tubes. Additionally, they will be selling towels and a variety of fun water items. “

Moving on to the main event, Ho spoke about the bands that will be performing, starting with the Moab-based Nanites. “This is the first time that they will be performing at a Vibes, but all I honestly know so far is that there’s a stand-up bass involved, and I’m kind of excited for that.”

The Nanites take the stage at 5 p.m.

Looking to the headlining act, at 8 p.m., cover group Two Weeks’ Notice seeks to rock the night away. “They are from Vernal and were recommended to us by some of our favorites, Mothers of Mayhem. They’re friends in some fashion, so we’re excited to have Two Weeks’ Notice on our stage.”

Switching gears, Ho discussed some of the vendor options that will be present at the event. “We have some of our favorites returning. We’ll have the Mambo Truck back and El Sartan. And then we’re going to have a mobile flower shop this weekend that’s new and will be very fun.”

She continued, speaking about this weekend’s specialty margarita, “We have a summer sunset margarita that is going to be blood orange juice and house-made margarita mix, topped with orange juice and a splash of grenadine, with a blood orange garnish on top and a habanero honey rim.”

Closing our conversation, Ho shared what it takes to put on a Vibes event: “A lot of work goes into just coordinating with the staff. We have an amazing staff, mostly high school kids from Carbon High.” Ho added,” We love and appreciate them and everything they do. A lot of coordination goes week-to-week just in making sure that we have good vendors and that the drink is ready and that there’s something fun for the kids to do and all of those fun things.”

Helper Saturday Vibes will be held on Saturday, July 26, beginning at 5 p.m. on Helper’s Historic Main Street. The pre-event river float will take place at 4:30 p.m. at Helper’s Swinging Bridge. For more information, you can visit Helper Vibes’ Facebook page or website.
