Arland J. Sherman Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, veteran, and farmer, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, in Price, Utah, at the age of 87. Born on September 12, 1937, in Huntington, Utah, Arland was the son of Joel Glain Sherman and Mary Pringle Sherman.
Arland lived a life rooted in hard work, quiet strength, and love for the land. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, where he developed the discipline and resilience that defined his character throughout his life.
A machinist by trade, Arland spent part of his career working on airplanes at Boeing in Washington State. Skilled with his hands and dedicated to precision, he took pride in his craft—but his heart was always back home in Utah, in the fields and pastures he loved.
Arland found his greatest joy in farming and the peace of the outdoors. He cherished time spent fishing, especially at Miller Flat Reservoir and Potter’s Pond in Emery County. Those quiet mountain waters were his sanctuary, and he passed that love of the land on to his family. He will be missed greatly by his family and a community of friends.
Arland is survived by his two children, Arland J Sherman Jr. of American Fork, Utah, Annette Jean (John) Pitchford of Parachute, CO; siblings, Zelma, Louise, Shirlene and Richard (Betty), Lynn; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; son, William Glain Sherman; siblings, Joseph, Ruby, Earl, Marie, and Keith; daughter-in-law, Danna Lynn Sherman.
