Barbara Lynn Simonsen Sehestedt, age 75 passed away July 30, 2025 at her home in Emery, Utah.

She was born January 8,1950, in McAllen, Texas to Waldo M. and Anna Lou EWTON Simonsen.

Married John Hardy Sehestedt on December 30,1974, in Hampton, Virginia.

Barbara was raised in Arkansas and Virginia and received a high school education from Hampton High then attended BYU. Barbara was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she and John were sealed in the Washington, D.C. temple.

Barbara and John lived in Virginia in the Hampton roads area, in Ramona, California, east of San Diego, and in Santa Cruz, California, and the past 33 years in Emery. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved many hobbies throughout her life including needle work of all kinds, journaling, scrapbooking and many kinds of crafts. She was always busy loving and caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a talented seamstress making clothes, blankets, and gifts for many. She taught her daughters the skills of gardening and canning. She was always humming in the kitchen. Her laughter could be heard throughout the house. Barbara‘s life motto was “If I got a biscuit, you got half.

Barbara is survived by her husband John; children, Travis and his fiancé Jill Emerson, Tiffany Christensen and her husband Mike, David Sehestedt and his wife Stephanie Bunderson, Erika Sehestedt and her husband Travis Ehrlich; she is blessed with 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brother Mark Simonsen and his wife Toni, are currently serving a mission in Sydney, Australia and she has two brothers, Jon Simonsen and Eric Simonsen who live back east.

She is preceded in death only by her mother and father.

Funeral service, Saturday, August 2, 2025, 11:00 a.m., Emery Ward Chapel (70 North Center Street) in Emery where the family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment, Emery Town Cemetery.
