With the deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Daniel Ramirez Sr., on July 30, 2025. Our loving and much cherished “Grandpa Pepe” left this world peacefully at home in Price, Utah, as his daughters held his hand and whispered soft and gentle words of love and affection until his final goodbye. He was born to Erasmo and Ventura Villa Ramirez on February 10, 1935 in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. Married Rosa Maria Gaytan Ramirez on November 4, 1960 in Ciudad Juárez. Daniel had an enormous heart of gold full of love, humility and compassion, and splashed with a lively sense of humor. He was a genuinely good-natured person who truly enjoyed lighthearted and playful interactions with others, bringing them smiles and laughter, and brightening many days.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he spent countless hours hunting and fishing. His love for the outdoors extended to gardening, where he nurtured vibrant vegetable gardens. A lifelong fan of professional boxing, he enjoyed watching Canelo Alvarez and many other great fighters in the ring. He also took pleasure in a good game of baseball.

Known for his acts of kindness and exceptional generosity towards family, friends, neighbors and strangers alike, Daniel was also known for his charitable contributions. For many years he supported the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, and was also a member of the Utah Sheriffs’ Association, and the United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association.

A proud member of the UMWA United Mine Workers of America, District 22, Local 9958, since 1970, Daniel retired from Kaiser Coal Mine, Sunnyside, Utah, in 1982 after a serious mining injury.

Daniel devoted himself wholly to his family, loving us all uniquely and unconditionally. He showed our mother love and affection as he provided dedicated care for her in her final years, making her comfortable and happy. His unwavering support, love and wisdom, were given to us without hesitation, and always with the love in his heart.

“Dad, no goodbye can erase the bond we share. It’s eternal.”

Survived by his children, Sandra (Santos) Ruiz, Price; Daniel (Maria Ernestina) Ramirez Jr., Price; Laura (Brent) Larsen, Price; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Rosa M. Ramirez; son, Carlos Ramirez; grandson, Santos Ruiz, Jr.; parents, Erasmo and Ventura Villa Ramirez; and his brothers and sister.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the loving staff of Pinnacle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; Dr. Sterling Potter, Dalia Batioja, RN, and all the loving staff of Community Nursing Services; Dr. Shane Gagon, Susan Anvik, RN, and the wonderful staff of Gagon Family Medicine for their compassionate care of our dad through the years and over the past few months as he neared the end of his journey.
