The Emery Lady Spartans soccer team earned its first win of coach Pennie Stewart’s tenure on Tuesday at Enterprise.  Illyria Mason’s three goals propelled Emery to a big 5-2 victory over the Wolves to start the season at 1-0 since 2022.

Coach Stewart took over the program in 2023 and has been searching for her first win in two seasons. The great thing about it is that through it all, the team has kept fighting and never given up, and it all paid off on Tuesday.

The Lady Spartans came out firing in the first half, scoring twice, taking a 2-1 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Emery scoring barrage kept coming as they added three more goals while giving up just one more to the Wolves, giving the Lady Spartans the 5-2 win.

Emery senior Illyria Mason scored a hat-trick (three goals) in the victory, Megan Stilson added the other two, and Daley Stewart earned an assist.

Emery will be back on the pitch on Thursday for their home opener when they will take on the San Juan Broncos.

Game time is set for 4:00 p.m..
