Marilyn Hazel Sommer D’Ambrosio, 81, passed away peacefully at home on August 4, 2025. She was born on October 28, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Hazel and James Sommer.
Marilyn spent her life rooted in hard work, devotion, and kindness. She made her home in Price, Utah, where she dedicated countless years to working on the family farm and caring deeply for those around her. She met her husband, Danny D’Ambrosio, while working in the coal mines. A fitting beginning for two people as strong and grounded as the land they lived on.
Marilyn made her living as a talented beautician, and for many years she owned and operated Reflections, a beauty shop in Helper, Utah. Through her work, she made people feel seen and beautiful.
She is survived by her husband, Danny D’Ambrosio; her children, Karla Jacquez, Tracy (Mike) Rose, Danielle (Derek) Gale, Johnny D’Ambrosio; and her cherished daughter-in-law, Jessalyn D’Ambrosio, whose compassion and care in Marilyn’s final days will never be forgotten. Marilyn was a proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren, sharing an especially close bond with her grandson Kasher, and was blessed with 25 great-grandchildren as well.
Among the places life took her, Marilyn’s heart always returned to Moon Lake; her favorite place in the world. It was there she found peace, beauty, and joy with her family, creating memories that will live on in their hearts forever.
She was known for her warm hugs, quick wit, and, to those lucky enough to have one, the best peanut butter and jelly sandwich around, made with her very own homemade plum jelly. That simple, sweet gift became a symbol of her love. Thoughtful, comforting, and unforgettable.
Marilyn’s legacy is one of warmth, generosity, and a deep, abiding love for her family. She was kind, had the best laugh, and she will be deeply missed.
A private family service will be held to honor her memory. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Marilyn online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
