Opening the regular meeting of the Helper City Council on Thursday, Aug. 7, the city council enjoyed a special presentation as the Helper Police Department welcomed its newest member, Drake Valdiviezo.

“So this is something Helper City has never done,” explained Police Chief Sean Draper. “We want to do an official swearing in. Take the job seriously. And let everyone know that our new officers are serious and ready to take their new role as officers of the city.”

Conducting the ceremony was the honorable Judge John Carpenter of the Seventh District Justice Court. Carpenter read the oath of office, which has Valdiviezo  swear to support, obey and defend the Constitution of the United States, Utah and the ordinances of Helper.

In a social media post following the swearing in, the department expressed excitement for Valdiviezo joining the squad: “We know Officer Valdiviezo is eager and excited to begin his time as a police officer, and we are excited to see him grow and serve this community.”

Castle Country Radio would like to congratulate Officer Valdiviezo  on his new position and wish him luck as he works to make Helper and Carbon County a safer place.

Valdiviezo has his badge pinned on by his wife.
