As candidates around the Castle Country eagerly await the results of the Aug. 12 municipal primary, voters still have time to let their voice be heard through the ballot box.

The following is a guide for Carbon and Emery County on when and where you can vote and what you should avoid to ensure your vote counts.

General

If you are planning to vote in person, you will need to bring a valid photo ID, which can include a driver’s license or a U.S. Passport. If you do not have a photo ID, you can bring two other forms of identification. These forms must have the name and address of the resident, such as a current utility bill or a current vehicle registration. A full list of valid IDs can be found at votesearch.utah.gov

Carbon County

In Carbon County, voters may vote in person on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Carbon County Administration Building located at 751 E. 100 N from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Those in line to vote by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote even after polls close.

This year, due to legislative action, ballots must be in possession of the county clerk by 8 p.m. on election day, which means it is too late to mail in ballots. However, each municipality has a specific drop-box that will be open until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

For the primary election, these locations are:

  • Administration Building-Clerk’s Office, 751 E. 100 N Ste 1100, Price, UT
  • Administration Building-East Parking Lot, 751 E. 100 N, Price, UT
  • East Carbon City Hall, 101 West Geneva Dr. East Carbon, UT
  • Helper City Hall, 58 South Main Helper, UT

Races requiring a primary election in Carbon County are:

  • Helper City Mayor
  • East Carbon Mayor
  • East Carbon City Council
  • Price City Council

Emery County

In Emery County, the only primary elections are for Green River Mayor and City Council, with a staggering 10 citizens running for the two seats.

With the Green River ballot box closing on Friday, Aug. 8, citizens wanting to vote will have to make their way to Castle Dale at the  Emery County Courthouse, located at 75 E Main ST. This drop box will close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

In person voting will also be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the same location.
