Vola Luther, 70, of Huntington, Utah, passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 2025. She was born on June 28, 1955 in Dragerton, Utah to Orval and Judith Day Ward.
Vola was a truck driver for almost 20 years. When she finally came home from the road, she settled in Denver City, Texas, while her husband worked for Haliburton, and she worked for a small chain of gas stations. While she worked at the gas station, she won a contest and was awarded a cruise to Mexico. It was the best trip of her life. After Joe retired, they relocated to Huntington, Utah to be closer to her parents.
Vola loved camping and fishing, and being outdoors until she got older, but wasn’t able to explore the outdoors due to her health. Vola had a deep love for animals, her favorite being her Blue and Gold Macaw, Bandit. Along with animals, she had an obsession with Star Trek, which she so lovingly passed down to her children. If she wasn’t watching Star Trek, she was listening to the ’50s station on Sirius XM.
Vola married the love of her life, best friend, and soul mate, Joseph Luther, on May 26th, 1989. Joe and Vola had a beautiful bond and raised their children as a blended family. Joe passed away on March 25, 2022, and they are finally together again.
Vola is survived by her children and stepchildren, Roy (Lisa) Mitchell of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, Mary (Russell) Bromley of Price, Utah, Carrie Luther of Priest River, Idaho, Jerimiah Luther of Okanogan, Washington; along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, Orval and Judith Ward; and children, Joshua Luther and Clint Pappas; sisters, Donna, Shannon, and Andrea; and brother, Wade.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in September of 2025. Instead of flowers, the family is asking for donations, as this was very unexpected.
