
Donald “Don” Alvin Jensen, age 89, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, surrounded by family.
Don was born in a one room log cabin in Lawrence, Utah on November 9, 1935, to parents Walter and Tessie Knott Jensen.
At the age of seventeen, Don joined the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany where his stories were many. He was later honorably discharged from the service. Don was proud of his time in the service and was proud to be an American.
Coming home from his time in Germany, Don would later meet Dorothy Barham at the Milky-Way in Price, Utah. The two of them would later get married. Together, Don and Dorothy had four children, Tonia, Ellen, Walter, and Judd. Don and Dorothy later divorced. Don later met Mary “Marlene” Thomas; and they too later married. Many happy years followed. Together, you could find both of them smiling and enjoying life. Marlene preceded Don in death on September 11, 2014. Following Marlene’s passing, Don reunited with a lifelong family friend, Lil Reid, and together the two of them split their time between living in Needles, California and Lawrence, Utah. Lil would later precede Don in death on April 6, 2025.
Don spent many dedicated hours working in the Uranium mines after his time in the service down on Temple Mt. on the San Rafael desert. Don would later transition to Salt Lake City, Utah where he went to work for the Bureau of Reclamation as a heavy equipment operator in the southwestern states. After, a 30 year career with the Bureau, Don was able to retire at the age of 55 where he returned to Lawrence, Utah to be with his mother, Tessie, and family. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing all the way up until his passing. “Fish feared Don!”
Survived by his children, Ellen (Tracy) Allred of Price, UT and Judd (Kathy) Jensen of Glendale, Arizona; son-in-law, Doug Barth of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Donald, Christopher, Jennifer, Justin, Jessica, Anthony, Jeff, and Judy; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Tessie Jensen; spouse, Marlene; companion, Lil; son, Walter (Ginger) Jensen; daughter, Tonia Barth; grandson, Joe (Rey) Martinez; and his 12 siblings.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, 10:00 a.m., at Miller’s Landing (Mitchell Funeral Home’s – Huntington Location) 123 North Main Street in Huntington. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Huntington City Cemetery.
