Maranda Leigh Slama Gutierrez, age 40, died unexpectedly on August 14, 2025, at Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem, Utah. Her family is deeply saddened and shocked by her death.

Maranda was born on September 21, 1984, to Nancy Ann Slama and Patrick Martinez. She was raised mostly by her grandparents Albert and Marylou Slama.

When she was a little girl, she loved animals and was always a happy child full of smiles and laughter. Maranda had the most beautiful smile; it would light up the room. She always kept her odd funny sense of humor. Maranda graduated from Cedar High School in Cedar City, Utah in May 2003.

Maranda met and married her soulmate and best friend, Richard Gutierrez, on March 1, 2005, in Las Vegas, NV. They were married for 19 years. In June 2007, Maranda and Richard welcomed a beautiful baby girl to their family; they named her Stevie Ruth Ann. She is and always will be the greatest joy in Maranda’s life.

Maranda was a homemaker and she recently started to write poems, loved angels and butterflies. She did arts and crafts and her favorite color was purple. She had a way with plants; she could plant a seed and it would grow where no one else could. She loved her garden of flowers, and in the summer mornings you would see her outside taking care of her flowers. Most evenings you might see her walking her beloved dog, Louie.

She got her love of watching wrestling from her Grandma Marylou, and she enjoyed watching football with her husband and friends. She enjoyed all kinds of music, and one of her favorite bands was Evanescence.  Maranda loved her family deeply, those who touch our lives and stay in our hearts forever. We will love you always, rest in peace.
