The Emery Spartan cross country squad was on the road in Spanish Fork on Saturday morning to compete in the UIAAA Invitational. With 41 teams competing in the boys division and over 38 teams on the girls side, the boys were able to earn a 33rd place finish, and though the Lady Spartans didn’t place, Emerys’ Gentry Christiansen earned a fourth place finish overall.
In the boys’ division, it was Herriman who claimed the top prize, followed by Riverton in second place. Orem, Mountain View, and Westlake made up the top five. Emery finished in 33rd out of 41 teams.
Zander Robinson was the top finisher for the Spartans, coming in 141st out of 246 competitors. Daxton Larsen (201), Ty Christiansen (205), Ryder Christiansen (216), Luke Jensen (221), and Porter Stilson also took part for Emery.
On the girls’ side, American Fork took first, followed by Westlake. Riverton, Herriman, and Lehi rounded out the remainder of the top five. Emery didn’t have enough runners to place at the competition.
The Lady Spartans were led by Gentry Christiansen, who finished in fourth overall with her time of 18:20.83, just off the pace set by Carbon’s Roz Stowe and her first-place time of 17:37.51. Addie Hurst (59) and Hannah Farley (168) also took part in the meet for Emery.
Emery will take part in the Juab meet at Canyon Hills Golf Course in Nephi on September 4.
