Our beloved husband, father, and friend, Clarence David Hamilton, age 81, passed away on September 2, 2025, in Price, Utah. David was born on August 5, 1944, in Price, Utah to Clarence and Lois Parry Hamilton. David and his four siblings were raised in Helper, Utah.
David graduated from Carbon High School in 1963. He was drafted into the U.S. Armed Forces on July 5th, 1965, and after completing basic training, he was deployed to Quy Nhon, Vietnam where he proudly served his country until 1967. While there he was assigned to the 629th Supply Company where he was a convoy driver delivering supplies to Pleiku, Vietnam. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Captain Donald G. Evan commented that the manner in which he performed his assigned duties was outstanding and that he could be depended upon to deliver his best under any and all conditions. This is a quality that David carried on throughout his life. In honor of his years of service to the U.S. Army, David was invited to travel to Washington D.C. as part of the Utah Honor Flight program in 2023.
After David completed his active duty with the U.S. Army, he returned to Carbon County and attended the College of Eastern Utah, where he obtained his welding certification. In 1967 he began working for Utah Power and Light as a mechanic/welder, and he spent the next 36 years working at both the Carbon Power Plant and Hunter Power Plant. He retired in 2002.
David met the love of his life, Connie Mahleres, in 1967 and they married in December 1969 at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price, Utah. David and Connie had one daughter, Angela Hamilton. They also adopted six loving dogs over the past 35 years. David was a devoted husband and father who worked hard to support his family and their interests. He could build and fix anything, and he was meticulous in his work. His skills will be sorely missed.
David was an avid outdoorsman, who in his younger days loved to go camping, boating, snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing with his family and friends. As he got older, David loved to spend time golfing and playing on various golf courses around the State of Utah with his traveling seniors group. David also developed a passion for geocaching and traveled to every state from the West Coast to the Midwest to locate over 12,000 caches.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lois Hamilton, and sisters Ann Smith and Marilyn Behunin.
David is survived by his wife, Connie; daughter, Angela; brother, Merrill Hamilton; and sister, Ginger Hills. We could not have asked for a better husband and father and will miss him every day and take comfort in knowing that he is now pain free and at peace. David’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
David’s family would like to thank Symbii Home Health and Hospice.
A graveside service will be held for friends and family on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cliffview Cemetery in Price, Utah.
