
Last Friday, the Emery Spartan cross country team traveled to the Timpanogos Invitational at Lakeside Park in Orem. With 40 teams and 277 participants on the boys’ side and 34 teams and 243 runners for the girls, it was a tough day for the Spartans. One bright spot was Gentry Christiansen’s fifth-place finish for the Lady Spartans.
In the girls’ division, Lone Peak took the top spot, followed by American Fork. Viewmont, Riverton, and Timpanogos rounded out the top five. Emery finished 24 out of 34.
Gentry Christiansen finished fifth overall out of the field of 243 runners. Addie Hurst ended the day at 93, and Skylee Guymon finished in 139. Hannah Farley (199), Hadley Meccariello (233), and Alvia Daley (236) competed for the Spartans as well.
For the boys, American Fork finished on top, followed by Riverton in second. Herriman, Maple Mountain, and Lehi comprised the remainder of the top five. The Emery boys claimed 39th.
Zander Robinson was the top finisher from the Emery boys’ team, placing 204th out of 277 runners. Daxton Larsen finished at 240, and Landon Braun with 247. Ty Christiansen (260), Ryder Christiansen (273), Luke Jensen (274), and Porter Stilson (277) competed for the Spartans as well.
Emery will return to the course on Thursday when they travel to Nephi for the Juab meet.
