On Friday, the Lady Spartan volleyball squad was on the road in American Fork for the American Heritage tournament. Taking on five teams over two days, Emery finished the weekend with a 4-1 mark, moving their overall record to 6-2.

The Lady Spartans have just a few games remaining before they begin Region 13 play on September 16, when they travel to Manti.

In the first contest for Emery, they faced the Utah Military Academy Camp Williams Marauders. This contest went rather quickly as the Spartans overwhelmed the Marauders in set number one by a score of 25-11, and then did it again in set two, 25-10, to earn the win.

Game two was against the Salt Lake Academy Griffins from Herriman. The opening set was all Emery as they claimed the 25-8 win. Set two was a little more competitive as the Griffins found their stroke, but it was too little too late, and the Lady Spartans took set two 25-18 to get the 2-0 match win.

In the final match on Friday, the Lady Spartans faced the Vanguard Academy Knights. It was more of what the Spartans had been able to do all day, and they claimed the match in two sets.  Set number one was a carbon copy of what Emery had been able to accomplish as they earned a 25-11 victory. Set two also went to the Spartans, 25-15, as they made it through day one unscathed.

Saturday morning, Emery got back on the floor to face the Rockwell Marshals. The Spartans picked up right where they left off, taking a 25-15 win in set one and followed that up with a 25-15 victory in set two as well. Moving them into the next round to face Duchesne.

The Duchense Eagles are a tough out in any sport, and that showed in the contest for the Spartans. The Eagles earned a 26-24 win in the first set, but the Spartans came back in set two, taking a 25-18 win to even things up. Duchesne came back to regain the lead, taking a 25-20 win. The fourth set was another Emery win to even things up in the match, 25-21. The fifth and final set was another battle, just like the rest, but the Eagles earned a 15-8 win to take the match 3-2.

Emery returns to the court on Tuesday, welcoming the Uintah Utes to the Spartan Center in Castle Dale.

Game time is set for 6:30 p.m..
