Sue Kirby Jones, age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the San Rafael Health and Rehab Center in Ferron, Utah.

Sue was born on September 11, 1940 in Huntington, Utah to Merril John and Leah Gordon Kirby.

Sue attended North Emery High School and graduated with the graduating class of 1958. Following graduation, she married the love of her life, Ronald Glen Jones, in Huntington, Utah on June 13, 1958. Her sister, Katherine, was married to Ron’s brother, Pete. The two sisters married brothers; which always made for an interesting conversation.

Sue worked for Coast to Coast Hardware in Castle Dale as a retail associate for many years.

Sue was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully for many years as ward librarian. Sue and Ronnie later solemnized their marriage in the Manti Utah Temple on October 13, 2004. Ronnie preceded Sue in death on March 30, 2015, at their home in Orangeville, Utah.

Sue was a great cook. She was known for her “homemade rolls.” Sue enjoyed making candies, caramels, and different types of fudge that she would sell at the hardware store and give away at the holidays. Sue loved to go camping, 4-wheeling, and fishing. In the winter months, Sue and Ronnie would head to Arizona as snow birds.
