Coming off a big win over Wendover in their last time out, the Green River Pirates welcomed the Valley Buffalos to town on Wednesday. The Pirates only collected three hits in the outing falling 5-0 to Valley.

Last weekend, Green River played a double header against Altamont and Wendover. The game with Altamont ended in a loss, but Green River collected 18 runs in the game with Wendover, taking an 18-1 win. The Pirates sit at 2-8 and sit in the No. 13 spot in the Utah High School Activities Association’s rankings.

Valley came out in the first inning, putting a pair of runs on the board. The next two innings were quiet for both teams, and then in the fourth, Valley added a trio of runs to push the score to 5-0. Green River had opportunities in the game, collecting three hits, but couldn’t plate any runs and couldn’t find an answer for the Valley duo of Hogan Harris and Justin Baird, who combined for nine strikeouts.

Rolando Anguiano and David Mendez both went 1-3 in the contest, and Cristian Mendoza was 1-2 in the loss for the Pirates.

The Pirates make the trip to Price on Friday to face the Pinnacle Panthers.
