Region 13 play got underway for both Carbon and Emery on the soccer field Thursday when the Lady Spartans traveled to Price. The Lady Dinos came out and found the back of the net nine times in the first half to cruise to an 11-1 win.

The Lady Spartans were coming off a 3-0 loss to Delta on Tuesday that moved Emery to 5-4 on the season. The Lady Dinos hadn’t been on the field since last week when they defeated Juab 5-0 to move Carbon to 8-2.

Carbon jumped out and took control in the first half, finding the back of the net nine times while the Lady Spartans broke the Dino defense, scoring one as the Lady Dinos took a 9-1 lead into halftime.

The second half was a slower pace with Carbon finding paydirt two more times and holding Emery off the board to claim the 11-1 win for Carbon.

For the Lady Dinos, Malia Smith earned another hat-trick, scoring three goals and adding one assist for Carbon. Naomi Smith added a pair of goals, Bailey Johnson, Blythe Bradford, Chrissy Jones, Kayla Jones, and Saren Nelson each had a goal and an assist. Kenzie Morgan had one goal, and Maggie Truman and Emma Bowman each had one assist in the win. Madi Barlow had a pair of saves for the Lady Dinos.

Both teams will be back on the pitch next Tuesday. Carbon will be on the road to face the Manti Templars, and The Lady Spartans welcome the North Sanpete Hawks to Castle Dale.

Both games are set to start at 4:00 p.m..
