There’s never a dull moment for the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce. Whether it’s conducting grand opening ceremonies or promoting local businesses, the Chamber’s nonstop action keeps things exciting.
Coming up for the CCCC includes their monthly luncheon, which in September hosts a mental health panel, and their yearly golf tournament fundraiser. To discuss these upcoming events and how to get involved with the Chamber, Executive Director Barbie Haeck joined the KOAL newsroom for an in-depth conversation.
Opening our discussion, Haeck spoke on the Chamber’s upcoming luncheon, which is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 18, at Ascension St. Matthew’s Church. “We’re going to have a mental health panel at the September luncheon, where Castle View Hospital, Carbon Medical, Four Corners Community Behavioral Health, USARA and the Chamber Board will be represented on the panel.”
In addition to this panel, the Chamber will shine a spotlight on the upcoming Eastern Utah Economic Summit. “The Eastern Utah Economic Summit is Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 13 and 14. That’s such a special event that is hosted right here in Carbon County that we want to highlight it.”
Registration for the chamber luncheon is available online at carboncountychamber.net. The event costs $18 for chamber members and $25 for non-chamber members. Those wanting to attend are asked to RSVP by Sept. 12.
Switching subjects, Haeck discussed the organization’s Golf Tournament fundraiser, which takes place on Friday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 4. “This is a fundraiser for the Chamber. So on Friday, we have scheduled tee times. And on Saturday, it’s a shotgun start. We have people who want to golf on Friday and people who want to golf on Saturday. So we decided to do a two-day tournament. And it’s been super successful in the past.”
Serving a dual purpose, the tournament raises both funds for the Chamber and its end-of-year First-Responders Banquet.
“We have different sponsorship levels. There’s an Eagle sponsorship opportunity where you will be a hole sponsor, and your logo and company name will be featured on all printed materials. Also, you’ll be acknowledged at the tournament. And then there’s a Birdie sponsor, which includes a hole sponsorship and a team. And then there’s a Par sponsor,” explained Haeck. “If you want to enter a team, it’s $300 if you’re a Chamber member, $400 if you’re not.”
Additionally, raffle tickets will be sold to benefit the First-Responders Banquet, and mulligans will be available for those not as adept at golf. “You don’t have to be a great golfer. It’s still a fun tournament,” said Haeck.
Closing our conversation, Haeck stated,” Come see us at the September Chamber Luncheon. You won’t be sorry.”
