Region 13 landed on the Palisades State Park Golf Course on Tuesday, the home course of the Manti Templars. Union took the top spot once again, but the Dinos were just one stroke off their pace to land in second.
The Cougars ended the day with a 314 to claim first place, and the Dinos were close behind with a 315. Emery finished in third with a 345, and North Sanpete and Manti rounded out the field as both teams shot a 377. Carbon’s Dayton King and Levi King finished the day with a low round of 76.
Behind Dayton King and Levi King’s 76, Cash Withers was one stroke behind with his 77, and Paxton Falk and his 86 made up the top four scorers for the Dinos. Karsen Gazell (88), Case Barker (95), Tristen Cunningham (96), and Kaeden Sandoval (98) comprised the rest of the Carbon team.
Next week, on September 18, the Region will travel to Ferron and attempt to tame Millsite, the home of the Emery Spartans. Millsite is one of the more challenging courses in Region 13. Millsite is a big risk-reward course, but you must play to your strengths and don’t take too many chances.
After Millsite, there are just two matches left before the Region Championships at Stansbury Park on September 29.
