The Emery Spartan golf team joined the rest of Region 13 at the Palisades State Park Golf Course on Tuesday, the home of the Manti Templars. After 18 holes, the Union Cougars finished in first place, and the Spartans claimed third.

Union shot a 314 to earn the top spot, and Carbon was close behind with a 315 to take second. Emery shot a 345 to claim third as Manti and North Sanpete shot a 377 to make up the rest of the field. Dayton King and Levi King shared the low round, shooting a 76.

For the Spartans, it was Brendon Behunin shooting an 84, and Champ Justice carded an 86. Easton Stoker had an 87, and both Bronx Olsen and Peyton Nielson shot an 88 for Emery. Corbin Madsen (114), Owen Blackham (115), and Statton Bingham (117) also competed for Emery.

Next week, on September 18, the region will come to Millsite.

Millsite is one of the more challenging courses in Region 13. It is a big risk-reward course, so you must play to your strengths and avoid taking too many chances.

After Millsite, there are just two matches left before the Region Championships at Stansbury Park on September 29.
