The Lady Dinos traveled to Manti on Tuesday to face the Manti Templars. Carbon was able to hold off the Templars, allowing just one goal but finding the back of the net twice to earn the win.
Carbon remains undefeated in Region 13 play and holds on to the No. 2 spot in the 3A rankings. Manti sits right behind at No. 3. The Lady Dinos move to 10-2 overall.
The first half was uneventful for both sides as the two teams went into halftime with the score 0-0. In the second half, both teams would find success as the Templars were able to break through the Dinos’ defense to score one goal. The Dinos returned the favor to take the lead and win 2-0.
Malia Smith added to her total once again, scoring two goals to move her season total to 32 as she is running away with the lead on the state level across all classes. Gemma Phillips of Grand sits in a distant second with 19 goals scored this season. Bailey Johnson added one more to her state-leading assist total with 15. Madi Barlow had 10 saves in the win.
The Dinos will be back on the pitch at home on Thursday when the Union Cougars come to town.
