Green River welcomed the Pinnacle Panthers to town on Tuesday for their first meeting on the volleyball court this season. The Lady Pirates grabbed a win in the opening set with Pinnacle coming back to take set two, but after that, it was all Green River as they took the 3-1 win.
Green River moves to 4-6 overall and No. 18 in the latest rankings, Pinnacle sits at 5-7 and is at No. 17.
On Tuesday, the Pirates came out in set one to take a 25-22 win. The momentum that the Lady Panthers had built by coming up short in the first set carried over to set number two, where they took a 25-15 win to even things up. Green River, however, came out swinging in set three to claim the 25-9 victory, and it spilled over into the fourth set, where they took a 25-15 win and the 3-1 match victory.
The Lady Pirates will take some time off and won’t be back on the court until September 24, when they make the trip to Price to take on Pinnacle at home.
The Lady Panthers go back to work on Friday when they travel to take on Utah Military Academy Camp Williams.
