Carbon’s cross country team welcomed schools from around the state to the Carbon Country Club Golf Course on Wednesday to participate in the Carbon Invitational. With nine schools in the girls’ division bringing 59 runners, Rozlyn Stowe finished in first, helping the Lady Dinos earn the top finish, with the boys’ team finishing second out of 11 schools.

Tooele took the top spot in the boys’ division with 33 points, followed by Carbon in second with 54. Uintah, Grand, and Union made up the remainder of the top five.

Michael Weber was the top finisher for the Dinos, claiming fifth. Dallin Humes was close by, taking seventh. Evan Criddle finished 12th and Matthew Stromness 14th. Samuel Wilson (16), Seth Jenson (19), and Bracken Hanson (21) competed for Carbon in a field of 70 runners.

Carbon claimed the top spot in the girls’ division with 43 points. Emery finished in second at 75. Union, North Sanpete, and Uintah made up the top five.

Stowe finished atop the girls’ division with her time of  17:05.7, paced closely by Emery’s Gentry Christiansen and her second-place time of 17:47.6. Josie Yates finished fifth for the Lady Dinos, and Kiley Bishoff took seventh overall. Brettlee Kennedy (13), Alexandra Bryner (17), Kaylee Pitcher (19), and Alexa Jones (29) also took part for the Dinos.

Carbon will be back on the course on September 24 when they travel to Maob for the Grand County race.
