
On Wednesday, cross-country squads from around the state met at the Carbon Country Club Golf Course for the Carbon Invitational. With 11 teams on the boys’ side and nine in the girls’ division, over 120 runners took part. The Lady Spartans finished the day in second place, with the boys taking eighth.
Gentry Christiansen of the Lady Spartans finished second overall in the girls’ division with a time of 17:47.6. Addyson Guymon took third. Addie Hurst (6), Hannah Farley (22), Hadley Meccariello (42), and Alivia Daley (52) also took part for Emery in a field of 59 runners.
Carbon claimed first place with 43 points, and Emery took second with 75. Union, North Sanpete, and Uintah made up the top five.
Zander Robinson was the top finisher for the Emery Spartan boys, taking 29th. Landon Braun finished 34th and Ty Christiansen 35th. Daxton Larsen (38), Benjamin Farley (51), Luke Jensen (60), and Ryder Christiansen (62) competed for Emery in a field of 70.
Tooele finished in first place in the team competition in the boys’ division, followed by Carbon. Uintah, Grand, and Union comprised the rest of the top five; Emery finished eighth.
Emery will be off until October 1, when they will travel to Roosevelt for the Union meet.
