Human skeletal remains found in San Juan County on Sept. 11 proved to be Jamey Holyoak, who was last seen alive in April of 2022, according to a social media post from the San Juan County Sheriff.

The post said the Medical Examiner’s office used dental records to positively identify the remains. Holyoak’s family has been notified and the sheriff’s office extended its condolences to them.

Holyoak’s friends and family have consistently sought answers from law enforcement and anyone else who might know what might have happened. The post did not disclose where in San Juan his remains were recovered.

In a 2023 interview with Holyoak’s siblings and other relatives, the family seemed resigned to the fact he had passed, but not knowing where he was located was difficult to deal with.

Holyoak suffered with addiction for much of his adult life, and they believe that role might have played a role in his disappearance.
