Playing the back half of a region road trip, the Carbon Dinos made the trip to Nephi, Utah, to face the Juab Wasps. Finding ways to score in all three facets of the game, Juab earned a dominant region victory over the Dinos 38-3.
The scoring would start early for the Wasps, with Kaden Martineau corralling the opening kick and sprinting 70 yards to the end zone for an opening touchdown. Carbon gained momentum, driving downfield, but Bryson Downard of Juab intercepted a pass and returned it 78 yards for a touchdown.
Juab scored once more in the first, this time on a 33-yard dash to the promised land by senior back Brock Richards to claim a commanding 21-0 advantage.
The scoring explosion continued for the Wasps in the second quarter, kicking off with a 60-yard dime from quarterback Price Armstrong to Downard.
Richards’ rushing attack also applied pressure to the Dinos’ defense, culminating in a breakthrough 44-yard run for his second score of the evening. And finally, bookending the half was a 24-yard field goal from kicker Drake Johnson to increase the deficit to 38-0 heading into the half.
Both teams would struggle to cross the goal line in the second half, with Carbon being the sole team to score. These points came courtesy of Tayger Timothy, who booted the ball 28 yards through the uprights to break the goose egg and create a final score of 38-3.
The loss pushes Carbon to 2-4 overall on the season and 0-3 in region play.
The Dinos now return home to face the North Sanpete Hawks (4-2, 1-2) in a homecoming showdown.
