A long summer of fun comes to a close on Saturday, Sept. 27, as Helper Saturday Vibes hosts its final event of the season. Teaming up with Utah State University Eastern, the event aims to connect the university and its students with the broader community of the Castle Country.

Sydney Ho from the Vibes team and Brooklyn Crippen from the university joined the KOAL newsroom to discuss the collaboration and what attendees can expect from the event.

“There are so many things we can plan for and so many things we can’t plan for, like the weather at our last event. But we are so excited for our last event,” expressed Ho. “The one with USU Eastern is always one of my favorites. I think this is the second year we’ve done it. And last year was a hoot.”

Speaking on the University side of the partnership, Crippen shared,” I think being able to partner on such a fun event. You have people from Helper, from Price, everywhere, all over that come. And so I think it’s just such a fun way to join what’s already been so great and highlight some of our programs, our athletics, and some departments that we have going to be there.”

Looking at the music, the fun gets kicked off at 5 p.m. with Supper Time providing a “loose improvised entertainment” featuring a “pop and jazz” sound. At 8 p.m., Monkey Friday takes the stage. “They play funk, rock and pop covers, and it’s going to be a party,” said Ho.

Speaking on the return of students to the area, Crippen stated,” It’s so fun having students back and just seeing the different events going on. It’s awesome to hear that people are coming back together and having a fun time together. And so we’re super excited to be able to bring this energy that we have on campus to Helper for Vibes.”

Looking at the vendors, Ho previewed who’s in store for the final event,” In addition to all of our fun friends from USU Eastern, this is the first event Ruben’s Barbecue is going to be at. The Nacho Bus is returning, and the pancakes from Wicked Kitchen are also making a comeback. It’s going to be a party.”

As for the event’s specialty drink, the fair will have not one, but two specials to enjoy,”. We were really, really sad we couldn’t do Shirley Temple’s last week. So we will be having Shirley Temple’s in addition to our blue margarita. There’s a little red versus blue there,” explained Ho. Jokingly, she added,” Don’t think about it too hard.”

Closing our conversation, Ho stated,” Just a huge thank you to USU Eastern in Brooklyn for getting involved with us and coming out and everybody wearing blue this weekend. Aggie blue. That is a Navy color.” Crippen added,” We’re excited to partner with Helper Vibes. So make sure you bring your friends. And like Sydney said, make sure you wear Navy blue or wear Eastern clothing.”
