The Lady Spartans faced the Carbon Dinos on the soccer pitch one last time in the regular season on Tuesday in Castle Dale. Carbon jumped out fast, scoring seven goals in the first half, and Emery had no answers for Madi Barlow in goal for Carbon as the Lady Dinos claimed an 8-0 win.

Emery slides to 5-9 overall and sits at 0-5 in Region 13 play; they also sit in the No. 14 spot in the latest rankings. Carbon sits at 13-2 and sits in first place in Region 13 with an unblemished 5-0 mark. The Lady Dinos also own the No. 2 spot in the latest rankings behind the Ogden Tigers.

On Tuesday, Carbon came out fast, putting up seven goals in the first half alone. Emery couldn’t crack the code on Barlow, and the Lady Dinos went to halftime up 7-0. In the second half, things slowed down as Carbon would not only keep Emery off the scoreboard, but they would add one more goal to push the lead to eight and take the 8-0 victory.

Malia Smith once again led the way for Carbon with another three-goal performance, pushing her season total to 40, which is 13 ahead of Sofia Evans of St. Joseph and her 27. Blythe Bradford collected a pair of goals and one assist. Chrissy Jones, Emma Bowman, and Andrea Swasey each scored one goal; Jones also collected four assists in the contest. Naomi Smith and Lydia Lancaster each collected an assist in the win.  Barlow had a pair of saves on her way to her seventh shutout of the year.

Carbon heads back to the field on Thursday when they will welcome Manti to Price.

The Lady Spartans will be on the road Thursday to take on North Sanpete in Mt. Pleasant.
