
The Emery Spartans and the Carbon Dinos met up Tuesday night at the Spartan Center for the first of two regular-season meetings. The crowd in attendance got one heck of a show as the Lady Spartans took the five-set win 3-2.
Carbon slides to 4-13 with the loss and is still looking for its first Region 13 victory at 0-3 and sits in the No. 14 spot in the latest rankings. Emery is at 7-6 and earned its first league win with the victory. The Lady Spartans sit at No. 13.
Tuesday evening, Emery came out to take a 25-21 win in the first set. Carbon battled back in sets two and three, 25-15 and 27-25, to go up one set. Emery came storming back in set four to take a 25-20 win and then closed out the Lady Dinos in set five 15-13 to earn a 3-2 win.
Carbon has five region matches left in the regular season, as well as a visit from Delta and a trip to Richfield for the Sevier Valley Tournament, before the State tournament begins on October 27 at Utah Valley University. Their next match is on Thursday when they welcome the Manti Templars to Price for a 6:30 start.
Emery also has five region matchups remaining and will participate in the North Sanpete tournament, as well as the Sevier Valley tournament. They will be on the road on Thursday to take on the North Sanpete Hawks.
