
The Carbon cross country squad traveled to Moab for the Red Rock Invitational on Wednesday, along with 12 other schools. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams were able to collect a first-place finish at the meet, with Carbon’s Josie Yates claiming the top finish in the girls’ division.
Grand followed Carbon in the boys’ division in second place. San Juan, North Sanpete, and Grantsville made up the remainder of the top five. Benjamin Hathaway of North Sanpete finished in first place with his time of 17:16.5.
Evan Criddle was the top finisher for the Dinos in third place, turning in a time of 17:21.17. Matthew Stromness finished in sixth, and Michael Weber in seventh. Samuel Wilson (14), Bracken Hanson (15), Spencer Pitcher (16), Seth Jenson (17), Dallin Humes (22), Carter Abbott (27), and Carter Jenson (30) made up the top ten Carbon finishers. The Dinos brought 18 runners in the boys division.
Grantsville finished in second behind the Dinos in the girls division. Grand, South Sevier, and North Sanpete comprised the remaining top five.
Josie Yates crossed the finish line first with her time of 19:42. Brettlee Kennedy finished in seventh, Kiley Bishoff, eighth, Alexandra Bryner, tenth, and Rebekah Trostle, 16th, made up the top five finishers for the Lady Dinos. Alexa Jones (18), Eliza Haddock (22), McKenzie Fredrickson (25), Lanaya Pitcher (38), Hannah Norton (42), and Briella Hatch (44) also competed for Carbon.
Carbon will get some time off now before it gets back to it. On October 1, they travel to Roosevelt for the Union Invitational at the Roosevelt Golf Course.
