The latest weekend of soccer for the Utah State Eastern women’s soccer team featured a win against Truckee Meadows Community College and a draw against the College of Southern Idaho.
In the third game of a four-match road trip, the Eagles continued to Reno, Nevada, to take on the Truckee Meadows Community College Lizards. Eastern came into the match with a two-match win streak and left Reno with a convincing third straight win.
Sariah Taeoalii scored in the 41st minute to give Eastern a 1-0 lead before the half. Paisley Ashworth scored in the 57th minute to extend Eastern’s lead to 2-0. The finishing touches of the match were made by a 76th-minute goal by Kinley Hicks, assisted by Ashworth. The Eagles won the match 3-0.
Next was a trip to Jerome, Idaho, to take on the Southern Idaho Golden Eagles. Goalkeeper Sarah Newman was the Player of the Match after a 10-save performance. Those 10 saves kept CSI from scoring. Unfortunately, Eastern was unable to capitalize on its seven shots on goal, resulting in a 0-0 draw.
Next for the Eagles is a home match against the Snow College Badgers. The Eagles currently sit in fourth place in the Scenic West Conference standings; the Badgers are in third. A win will move the Eagles into third place, and one game behind for second place.
Kick-off is scheduled for Saturday, October 4, at 1:00 p.m. at the Castleview Hospital Soccer Field.
