Each year, to support the Angel Tree, Eastern Utah Community Credit Union hosts its Pumpkin Festival – an opportunity for community members to tap into their Halloween spirit while benefiting a good cause.
Ted Thayne from EUCCU joined the KOAL newsroom to preview the event and discuss why the credit union is so involved within the community.
“There are lots of neighborhoods in town that are busy all night long through Halloween. So we’d like to help kick that off,” said Thayne. “We do our Pumpkin Festival every year. This year, it will be held on Oct. 9 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. It’s just one of the ways we like to reach back out to our community, help them all, and all the proceeds go to the Angel Tree, so it helps our community and lets the community help the community.”
He added,” We love helping out the community, so anyway we can help with the Angel Tree, get people involved, and make sure everybody’s having a good Christmas. We’ll kick that off with Halloween, and we’re selling some pumpkins.”
The Pumpkin Festival offers an affordable way for citizens to purchase pumpkins for the fall season. Prices are $3 for a single pumpkin or $5 for two pumpkins. Event entry is free, with the only cost incurred being the purchase of pumpkins.
In addition to the pumpkins, the festival also offers attendees the opportunity to participate in seasonal games, take a photo with Penny the Pig and enter to win a Nintendo Switch 2. Coinciding with the Pumpkin Festival, EUCCU will also host a bake sale, with proceeds going toward the Angel Tree.
Closing our conversation, Thayne shared,” I’d just like to say thank you to our community. We really appreciate you guys; we appreciate everything you do. We appreciate everybody in this community, and we couldn’t be happier to be able to do the things that help our community and let the community come out and help our community as well.”
Eastern Utah Community Credit Union’s Pumpkin Festival takes place on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the credit union’s Price branch. For more information about the credit union and its services, visit the business on Facebook or at EUCCU.com.
