Joyce Easterbrook Brasher, age 84, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at her home in Huntington, Utah.
Joyce was born on September 16, 1941, in Cleveland, Utah to good parents, Harry Easterbrook and Barbara Whitehead Easterbrook. She was twice blessed living next door to her maternal grandparents. She spent many happy hours there; her every wish was their command.
Joyce was a Polio survivor in 1954, she thankfully survived! She not only survived, but excelled. However, Polio left her several permanent reminders.
Mom loved school and was involved in everything! She graduated from North Emery High in 1959.
Mom’s main ambition in life was to be a wife and mother. That journey began on June 15, 1959. She married her high school sweetheart and best friend, in Ruth, Nevada. Later sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple.
Joyce loved being a wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking and baking; especially bread for Dad. She liked to sew. She made dresses for the girls and for herself. She loved making baby things. She liked to crochet and knit all kinds of things. She liked learning new things. She was an avid reader; we are sure at times Dad probably wondered what wall would be gone when he got home from work. One time, they bought a panel van. While Dad was at work, Mom was busy. She cut three holes in the side of the van and installed windows. She upholstered two bench seats and laid carpet. It was very nice.
Mom and Dad liked to travel. They had traveled most of the United States and parts of many other countries.
Mom had a strong testimony of the gospel and loved serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Den Leader, Cub Master, Primary teacher, and was a Counselor and President. She served in the Relief Society in five presidencies and then as Relief Society President. She taught Spiritual Living for many years; she loved that calling. She also served in the Family History Center’s in Price and Huntington. She loved going to the temple and enjoyed going after Dad passed, with her temple friends.
She was blessed with good friends all her life. Some of them she had for 75 years. Many have gone on and she missed them.
Joyce is survived by her children, Myrna (Corey) Powell, Suzanne Brasher-Anderson (Kurt – deceased), Joye (Cory) Wilcox, and Reed (Raiany) Brasher; along with ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sister, Carol Wolf.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bryce; son, Kurt Brasher; grandson, Jarom Powell; and parents.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Alexus Killian and Tiana McElperang for their excellent care of our mother. Thank you.
