The Lady Spartan soccer squad traveled to Roosevelt to face the Union Cougars in the final regular-season contest. Emery got on the board first to carry the lead into the half, but Union came back to score four goals in the second half to earn the 4-2 win.

Emery closed the regular season with a 5-12 overall mark, going 0-8 in Region 13 play. The Lady Spartans sit in the No. 14 spot in the latest rankings.

The Spartans owned the first half with Megan Stilson and Molly Christiansen finding the back of the net as Emery took a 2-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, the Cougars came out swinging as they collected four goals to take a 4-2 win to end the season.

Emery will now wait until Saturday, October 11, when the Utah High School Activities Association releases the final rankings and reveals the bracket for the 3A State Championships on the KSL Sports App, at 10:00 a.m..

If the rankings stay where they are right now, the Lady Spartans will travel to Manti to face the No. 3 Templars.

In their two meetings this season, the Templars came away with victories in both.
