
Lady Dino volleyball made the trip to the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield for the Sevier Valley Invitational. This two-day tournament welcomed in 1A, 2A, and 3A schools from across the area. Carbon played in four games but was unable to collect a win, going 0-4 over the weekend.
Carbon slides to 5-20 overall and 1-5 in Region 13 play as they now sit in the No. 14 spot in the latest rankings. The Lady Dinos have just a pair of contests left before the end of the regular season on October 18.
In the opening match for the Lady Dinos, they faced the Canyon View Falcons. Canyon View is the No. 2 team in 3A entering with an 18-7 overall mark.
In set number one, Carbon battled with the Falcons, but Canyon View took a 25-20 win. Canyon View started to flex their muscles in set two and earned a 25-13 victory. They then closed out Carbon 25-19 in set three to get the match win.
In the second game of the day for Carbon, they would face the No. 7 team in 2A, the North Sevier Wolves. In a match that would go the distance, the Wolves were able to come away with a 3-2 win.
Carbon came out in set number one to take a hard-fought 25-23 victory. North Sevier claimed victories in the following two sets, 25-21 and 25-22. The Lady Dinos fired back in the fourth set, 25-22. The fifth and final set would go back and forth, but the Wolves took the edge 17-15 to earn the match win.
In the first match on Saturday, Carbon faced the South Sevier Rams. The Rams sit at No. 9 in 2A with a 13-12 mark. After the Dinos earned a win in the first set, South Sevier came back to win the next three and take the 3-1 win.
The Lady Dinos were ready for the Rams, taking a 25-20 win in the first set. After that, it was all South Sevier, with wins in the second set 25-16 and the third set 25-19. They closed out the Dinos in set four with a 25-22 win.
In their last game of the weekend, Carbon faced the 1A No. 1 Panguitch Bobcats. The Bobcats hold a 19-4 overall mark.
Carbon came out and once again claimed a win in the first set, 25-13. Set number two was close, but Panguitch was able to collect a 25-19 victory. Set three was all Bobcats as they took a 25-8 win, and then again in the fourth set, Panguitch closed out the Dinos 25-15.
Carbon has a pair of contests left in the regular season and will start on Tuesday when they face the No. 15 Emery Spartans in Price for Senior Night.
