
Lady Spartan tennis competed in the 2025 3A State Championships, which began on Thursday with the round of 32 at Brighton High School and concluded on Friday and Saturday at Liberty Park. Six players represented the Spartans in the final matches of 2025.
Rowland Hall earned the top spot in the team scoring, followed by Morgan. American Heritage Schools, Logan High School, and Grantsville rounded out the top five. Emery finished in 23rd out of 25 schools that competed.
Izzi Turner was the Lady Spartans’ first singles player, drawing Jacklyn Rasmussen of Union, falling in straight sets 6-2 and 6-3. Rasmussen fell to Grantsville’s Mya Orgill in the round of 16, 6-0 and 6-1.
Tandy Bennett took the court in the second singles spot and took on No.9 ranked Shreya Garg of Logan. Garg took the 6-1, 6-1 win in straight sets. Garg would eventually fall to the State Champion in second singles, Vyvian Bailey of Morgan.
Emery’s duo of Brindlayn Grange and Ella Kelley squared up with Caroline Beales and Emma Beals of Union, and after the Lady Spartan pair took the 6-4 win in set one, the duo from Union came back to take the following two sets 6-0 and 6-0. The pair from Union would fall in the round of 16 to the Richfield tandem of London Myers and Jackie Tidwell.
The Spartan team of Ayana Ashby and Audrey Livingston pulled the No. 8 seed, earning them an opening-round bye. In the round of 16, they faced the Providence Hall duo of Sophia Bentley and Lhayaashree Prem Kishove, who claimed a 6-2 and 6-3 win. The Providence Hall pair would fall to the eventual State Champion for second singles, Annie Bott and Gracie Bott of American Heritage.
