The Emery Spartans had 12 student-athletes who earned Academic All-State honors for the fall sports season. Student-athletes from cross country, football, boys’ golf, girls’ soccer, tennis, and volleyball all received nods for their abilities not just on the field but also in the classroom.
The honor is awarded using the following criteria found on the Utah High School Activities Association website:
Each sport and activity season, the UHSAA will open nominations through RegisterMyAthlete. Parents/students will enter their RegisterMyAthlete account and click on the Academic All-State tab to enter their unweighted cumulative high school GPA, ACT/SAT score, and submit the nomination form. Schools must confirm that the student-athlete is a varsity contributor, verify the GPA and ACT/SAT score, ensure the student is a senior, and upload a current transcript before submitting the nomination to the UHSAA by the specified deadline. The Academic All-State award will now be decided by either meeting an index score or having a 4.0 unweighted GPA.
Cross country had three honorees, with Zander Robinson representing the boys and Addie Hurst and Addyson Guymon taking honors for the girls. The cross-country squad will take part in the Region 13 Championships on Wednesday, the 15th, at the Carbon Country Club Golf Course, and then will prepare for the State Championships on October 28 & 29 at Sugarhouse Park.
Lady Spartan soccer also had a trio of honorees. Kaicee Behling, Megan Stilson, and Molly Christiansen were given Academic All-State status. The regular season has come to a close, but the postseason will get started on Wednesday when they travel to Manti to face the Templars.
The Spartan duo of Beau Stilson and Jadin Atwood earned honors for football for the 2025 season. The Spartans will face the Delta Rabbits Friday night in Castle Dale for the final game of the regular season.
On the golf course, Michael Justice and Peyton Nielson were singled out for their contributions on the links and in the classroom. Nielson closed out the season last week, shooting +19 at the State Championships, landing in a tie for 32nd place.
Isabella (Izzy) Turner was a great contributor to the Lady Spartans tennis team this season. She also did her share in the classroom, earning honors. The tennis team just wrapped up its season last week, with Turner falling in the round of 32 to Jacklyn Rasmussen of Union.
Dakota Orgill was the lone member of the Lady Spartan volleyball team to receive a nod. Emery will be on the court in Price on October 14 when they face the Lady Dinos. On Thursday, the 16th, the North Sanpete Hawks will come to the Spartan Center for Senior Night as the Lady Spartans close out the regular season.
Congratulations to all recipients of the Academic All-State honors for the 2025 Fall Sports Season.
