The Utah State Eastern women’s soccer team hit the road for its final regular-season road trip as it visited the No. 5 Salt Lake Community College Bruins and the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans.
First on the weekend was a trip to Salt Lake to take on the No. 5 Bruins. The Bruins opened the game with a goal in the 22nd minute to take an early 1-0 lead. The Eagles quickly responded in the 31st minute with a goal from Kinley Hicks, assisted by Sariah Taeoalii.
Salt Lake scored three more times in the first half to take a 4-1 lead into the halftime break.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second half, leading to a 4-1 SLCC win.
Next on the weekend was a trip to Rangely, Colorado, to take on the CNCC Spartans. The Spartans started the match fast with a goal in the 6th minute. Neither team was able to break through in the rest of the first half, resulting in a 1-0 lead for CNCC at the break.
CNCC scored another goal in the 61st minute to take a late 2-0 lead. The Eagles finally broke through the Spartan defense with a goal in the 66th minute by Cali Condie. Now trailing by one, the Eagles had 24 minutes left to at least tie the score. In the 90th minute, just before the final whistle, Emma Bargeron scored Eastern’s second goal of the match, and Eastern earned a 2-2 draw with the Spartans.
After the weekend, the Eagles currently sit in fifth place in the Scenic West conference standings. Their next match will take place on October 16, against North Idaho College, which sits in second place in the SWAC standings.
