To aid in families getting into the Halloween spirit, Castleview Hospital and WorkPoint Occupational Medicine prepare for their eighth annual trunk or treat on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Castleview Urgent Care Parking lot.
To promote the event, Jamie Fox joined the KOAL newsroom and provided an in-depth glance at what the trunk-or-treat may have in store for attendees.
“I’ve put my heart behind it, this is year number eight, and it’s still going to be as exciting and as fun and as scary as always,” stated Fox. “I’ve even put in a couple of new things this year, so it’s not just the same old same old.”
Being hosted in the Castleview Urgent Care parking lot, Fox discussed some of the safety measures taken to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all: “The city allows us to block down that street in front so we don’t have any stray cars coming around the long lines. I apologize for those; we do the best we can, but even with the long lines, we still have safety in front of that building.”
Giving a peek behind the planning process, Fox explained,” I start going through plans in my head maybe the day after, but I give other holidays their due, and I probably start officially planning on Jan. 1. We look at what worked, what didn’t work? What needs to be improved? What’s a new surprise I can bring? What can I bring? I even have some of our trunks starting to plan the day after. They’re like ‘This is what we’re doing next year’ and each year when they bring it, they bring it bigger and better.”
A major draw of the event is its cost: free. “There will be lots of candy, lots of fun and lots of kid-friendly stuff. There will be a few small scary things of course, that does come a little bit with Halloween, but also bring your kids, the hospital supplies a free hot dog meal. So it’s not just a hot dog. You get a hot dog meal.”
Closing our conversation, Fox stated,” Just come and have a good time. I want you to come and have a good time. No stress. No strain. No, nothing. Just come and enjoy.”
