The Utah State University Eastern men’s soccer team returned to the Castleview Hospital Soccer Field for two of their final four home matches of the 2025 season. The Eagles welcomed North Idaho College and Pacific Northwest Christian College for matches on Thursday and Saturday.

Thursday afternoon featured a matchup with the North Idaho Cardinals. Coming into the week, the two teams were fighting for a spot in the Scenic West Athletic Conference postseason tournament.

North Idaho scored in the 36th minute of a half dominated by the Cardinals. North Idaho finished the half with a 1-0 lead after posting nine shots in the half. Eastern was forced to make three saves but took just four shots in the first half.

The Eagles came out with some fire in the second half and finally broke through with a goal in the 69th minute by Andrew Guizar. After tying the game at 1-1, the Eagles continued on the attack, but a lapse defensively led to a NIC penalty kick in the 83rd minute. The Cardinals converted on the kick and left Price with a 2-1 win over the Eagles.

In need of a bounce back, the Eagles faced Pacific Northwest CC in a match that USU Eastern dominated, 6-0.

Leandro Robles scored in the 20th minute to start the offensive onslaught for Utah State Eastern. Oliver Palafox scored in the 28th minute to extend Eastern’s lead to 2-0. Just before the half, Carson Leishman scored Eastern’s third goal, taking a 3-0 lead into the halftime break.

After the break, Ibrahim Faye scored in the 52nd minute. Theo Villela scored Eastern’s fifth goal in the 62nd minute before Carlos Aguilar added another in the 72nd minute to give Eastern the 6-0 victory.

Next for the Eagles is a home match against Truckee Meadows Community College on October 23. The Eagles currently sit at 8-4-2 on the season and 7-4-1 in conference play. They are currently tied for fourth in the SWAC standings, but are listed as fifth, and just outside of the conference tournament, because of NIC’s win this past weekend.
